We were looking to introduce a bit of early colour to the Butterfly Garden this year after that long winter we had. So we had to cut a load of ash and willow thinnings from Wooplaw Community Woods as part of the sustainable crop we have there and gave them a longer life. The garden is bouncing back now after all that great weather we had last month and they have worked really well. Something different don't you think ? Add Comment St Boswells based artist John Martin has been painting in the Borders for a while now. His colourful take on the huge landsapes we have here in the Borders are delicate and full of free flowing colour. We're really pleased to receive some new oil paitings from Ancrum based artist Siobhan O'Hehir . Red, Blues, Greens like you've never seen them. Beautiful landscapes from her native Ireland and her hill travelling sorties into the Scottish hills are represented here at Buy Design. A very must definately come and see for yourself ! We have just received some new mono-prints in from local artist Michelle Gates. Michelle is a self-taught, British Expressionist/Abstract Expressionist who has exhibited and sold her work nationally and overseas. Her art is influenced by the nature of raw emotion and her environment. She loves the interplay between colour and light, and the perceived and non-perceived worlds. Her dreams are also a vivid source of inspiration, those twilight zone scenarios where reality and fantasy become intertwined. Rob Sutherland, Scottish Borders based ceramicist has designed some new coiled forms to supplement a range of calm blue / green glaze ware. They have this real floaty quality with a textured band separating the sea / sky of condensed landscapes. Craftsmanship at its best. David Lightly trained with Tim Stead in Blainslie and has produced a series of beautiful wall sculptures in a variety of Scottish hardwoods. These are just beautiful pieces - full of soft lines, elegant curves and hidden landscapes. |
