We've managed to get some more of Iain Markham's blue stoneware in again. This blue glazed ceramic is so popular and we don't get it in so often. We have the full range of drizzlers, olive bowls, tapas dishes, salt jars, mugs, bowls, jars, toast racks .... and things that I'm not very sure what they're for ... an egg splitter ? I know now ... I've just been shown .. oh yes it's dishwasher friendly and oven proof as well.

Fi Porteous likes her wood to make a statement. This huge two seater bench in Scottish Oak has been set on fire, sanded, smoothed, sculpted and burnished to make the most wonderful seat. Indoors or out this is a seat and a half. This is a one off, on show in the gallery now.
Robert Clifford is a very talented young guy living up the Yarrow Valley. These very BIG platters are finished to perfection and would make a great centre piece on a large hall table or dining feast. Robert sources all his own timber form the Scottish Borders and for such a young 'un, he can really read the wood. Big translates as 500mm diameter.
Special series of bowls from Colin Glendinning have arrived in today at Buy Design Gallery. This guy used to specialise in venoms from tropical spiders .... somebody has to do it ..... wheeaaaa ...... spooky woods !!! Happy halloween everyone.
Heres a selection of some of the new cushions that came into Buy Design Gallery this week. Local designer / makers Frances Teckkam and Julia Cunningham. They also both make they most beautiful and unusual scarves and small pouches and bags. Often made with remnants from the Scottish Borders weaving and knitwear industry, these two are making sure that traditions remain. Great gifts and presents me thinks !
Pete Hallam is a local artist showing regularly at Buy Design Gallery. These two recent oil paintings have sublimely captured our Scottish landscape in its latent colour. He catches the glimpses that we often miss in our countryside. Seeing them ..... and holding them onto his canvas for us all to observe in our own minds eye. Just beautiful ...
Will and Eoin made this prototype ruler in the workshop last week. What do you think ? We've got three more on the go at the moment and taking tall orders now ! Call Mr Orange on 01835 830718 to reserve yours now.
Another two batches of Teviot Chairs in Scottish Oak. Beautifully made by Barney Miers in the workshop this month. The solid seats on the chairs and carvers are a wee bit different - very elegant ! We had made them for stock in the gallery but they were on the floor for less than a day. Away off to Wales !
Here's some images of recent Teviot Chair commissions. The Scottish oak used in this work was just beautiful. The colour and grain is some of the best we have ever used. The Fumed Oak chairs are something really special don't you think ? We've got so much other work on at the moment that we have reached our cut off point for Christmas in place for two months. Thanks to all the brilliant clients and customers that have come into the gallery recently. Keep an eye out for our Christmas Weekend on 4th & 5th December. Apart from all the unique glass, ceramic, textile, wood and paintings that are in the gallery, you could always consider our Gift Voucher scheme and have a piece commissioned for a friend or family.
Thanks to Jois, Val, Michael, Heather, Colin, Callum and Alex for a productive stool making day. The quality of work is astounding ! Keep your eyes on the events page for a shaving horse making day at the end of the month. Only four places for that one guys up at Wooplaw Woods.
