There is always an attention to detail, variety of process and material use on the walls in the gallery. This fine work by Rona MacLean, Val Dijkman and Matthew Ellwood are great examples of this best practice. Beautiful painstaking work.

Glad to say we made it through the past two years and managed to reopen at the beginning of the year. Supporting almost 100 other maker and artists in the gallery also has its own story. Some have not survived and others picked up new work online. It was hard for the self employed and those of us within the "creative sector". Anyway we're here and open again. So lots of new works in from our regular makers and artists. Still wearing masks at the moment. We've decided to take a Thursday off btw. Here's some new images for you to have a look at.
Hello everyone, Happy New Year !! We really do hope you all stayed well and safe during what was a really strange Christmas. We would like to thank all our customers, friends, makers and supporters on the run up to Christmas. Some of you we only see once a year others more regularly. Every spend with us made a difference to the makers and artists we have in the gallery. It definitely helped us keep the doors open at the end of a very lean year. So thanks folks - really means a lot to us that there are people out there that don't buy everything online and believe in local business support!!
So obviously the most recent lockdown guidelines are restricting our trading even more this time. As non-essential retail we have to close until told to reopen. Could be for a couple of months again. We will be closed to the public but doing a bit of maintenance and making ourselves. Big Tree Society courses are on hold til end of February anyway. If you need to get in touch we will always respond to email info@buydesigngallery.com or message us on Facebook, Instagram. Stay Home - Stay Safe - Stay Off The Chocolate ! There’s always time for a bit of crazy Christmas. Daft stuff for the tree and funster cards for your kids and pals.
We always have wide selection of woven, knitted and printed textiles and fabrics here in the gallery. We are so lucky to have a great group of makers based here in the Borders with a great take on what’s on trend, sustainable use of materials and a sincere approach to our continuing heritage here in Scotland..
We hope you, your family and friend have coped during this time of pandemic and that you are all well. We have lost some relations and pals over the summer and have felt the soreness of not being able to comfort and grieve with people properly. Our thoughts are with them all.
We reopened the gallery and started up our Big Tree courses four weeks ago. A bit twitchy still, to be honest, but were all in it I suppose,Just try and keep as sensible and as safe as possible. We’ve had to decant about 200 folks into 2021. But we do have new course dates up as well. We are going to see how it goes for the next few months, see if we get through winter without another spike and perhaps some more footfall. We have never had an online shop as such in the past - may look at that. Our customers however still prefer to see and touch the work in the gallery. We are working on a "scratch and sniff" app with a local IT programmer ! Not that you’ll be able to smell much through your mask ! So that's us back open every day 10-5 EXCEPT THURSDAYS. ( we have been open seven days a week for the past 20 years decided to have a day off from now on.) Come and see us and give us your craic. All the best Eoin and Belen.
