Brian, Joanne, Jeanette, Lara and Ewan all stood the heat in the garden on Saturday to produce some beautiful wooden knives and spoons. There were a few blisters, but plenty smiles and new skills learnt. Everyone went away with product and respect for how some wooden utensils were made in the past. They will hopefully never look at a spoon in the same way again. Well done everyone, brilliant effort. We hope to see you back for another one of Keiths engaging courses at Buy Design soon. I just want to say thanks again for a really great day on the kitchenalia course, Ewan and I had a fantastic time. We learnt so much about the wood and the craftsmanship required for something so simple as a spoon! I never appreciated how hard carving wood by hand was but I now have several blisters to remind me! Despite their appearance I am exceptionally proud of my butter knife and spoon and know they will look even better once sanded and varnished. Thanks especially to Eoin and Keith for giving us so much of their time and their endless enthusiasm, when's the next course???!!!

This is one of those things you have to do before you die. Making things from green wood will connect your mind to another world. A brilliant course which I found totally absorbing. I want to learn more.
